He cut across the penalty area from the right and after one of the three defenders in his wake failed to make a meaningful clearance, the Oxlade-Chamberlain was able to dispatch a low left-footed finish into the far corner. Oxlade-Chamberlain, 18, became the youngest English Champions League scorer when he waltzed across the area to plant a low shot into the corner. The visitors had the first sighting of goal but Fuster could only shoot wide after good work on the right-hand side from Ljubomir Fejsa. But the home side were ahead in the eighth minute through 18-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain. Alex Song launched a long ball forward from the back and the winger took it down nicely on his chest. Mikel Arteta made a goal-line clearance as the Gunners held on for the win.

Wenger wants Van Persie to fire Arsenal

LONDON COLNEY: Arsene Wenger has challenged Arsenal captain Robin van Persie to show his commitment to the club by producing another match-winning display in Wednesday's Champions League clash against Olympiakos. The Dutch forward's current deal expires at the end of next season and Wenger knows Arsenal could be faced with the same situation that forced them to sell Samir Nasri to Manchester City if they fail to persuade Van Persie to extend his contract. Van Persie rocked Wenger this week by admitting he isn't ready to discuss a new contract with the Gunners. For now, Wenger is focused on getting the best out of Van Persie for the remainder of his contract. Asked about Van Persie's future on Tuesday, Wenger said: "That depends on us and him. "I do not say there is no problem because it doesn't depend only on us but we are clear with our intention.
